FARSOUNDER COLLABORATES WITH URI CAPSTONE PROGRAM

FarSounder has partnered with the University of Rhode Island ELECOMP Capstone Program. In the program, two students were matched with a local business’ to work on designing, building, programming, and testing solutions to real-world problems. The two senior-level engineering students working with FarSounder this past school year were Thomas Lott and Cole Boulanger. >>Full details 
TELEDYNE RD INSTRUMENTS LAUNCHES TWO NEW NEXT-GEN TECHNOLOGIES
(San Diego, Calif. – April 23, 2019)   In 1982, RD Instruments introduced the industry’s first Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), forever changing the way that ocean currents are measured around the globe.  Thirteen years later, this innovative technology was literally flipped on its head to create the industry’s first Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), ushering in a new era in precision subsea navigation.

TMTW 2019 CALL FOR SPEAKERS

TELEDYNE MARINE TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP CALL FOR SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED (San Diego, Calif. – April 22, 2019)  Teledyne Marine has announced a call for speakers for its joint Teledyne Marine Technology Workshop (TMTW) to be hosted in San Diego, CA; October  6-9, 2019.   Teledyne Marine’s 23 industry-leading brands will once again join forces to host an expanded users’ conference in which users from around the globe will converge to explore, learn, and share their vital experience on a broad range of applications and technologies. >>Full details

ZEPHYR EDUCATION FOUNDATION’S MARINE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM CELEBRATES 10TH YEAR

This spring Zephyr Education Foundation (ZEF) starts its 10 year hosting high school and college classes on field trips in Woods Hole. Each year over 2000 students participate in ZEF’s hands-on scientific “cruises” in Vineyard Sound. During the trips students deploy a benthic sled with camera to get live video on board of different habitats, deploy a dredge to collect benthic invertebrates, deploy and recover an acoustically-releasable instrumented oceanographic mooring and conduct other measurement activities. >>Full details

PRAWLER JOINS MCLANE PROFILER LINE

April 4, 2019 (Falmouth, MA) – McLane Research Laboratories, Inc. announces that the Prawler, a low cost, shallow profiling vehicle is now available as part of the McLane Profiler product line.  The Prawler collects and transmits sensor data from the surface to 500 m of the water column, traveling the mooring wire using wave actuated motion. April 9-11 will be the first showing of the McLane-manufactured Prawler at Ocean Business in Southampton, UK. Visitors to Stand A29 will experience a full-size Prawler first-hand. >>Full details

NEW EXPEDITION SHIP FITTED WITH FARSOUNDER FLS
