Building on Rhode Island’s strong maritime heritage and commitment to its natural resources, the mission of the Slater Center for Marine and Environmental Technologies is to accelerate the transfer of ideas and innovations from Rhode Island’s scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and research institutions into new technology businesses.  The Center supports startup ventures by helping them to convert their promising ideas from scientific concepts to marketable products, through seed funding, business services, strategic partnerships and collaborations, and finally to access institutional capital for future growth.  The Center’s ultimate objective is to stimulate Rhode Island entrepreneurships and economic growth for its residents.
