Opportunities at Material Systems Inc. Materials
Systems Inc. (MSI) is a leader in the design and manufacture of advanced acoustic
transducers for sonar and ultrasound systems. Our piezocomposite transducers are the
leading-.edge technology in high performance defense sonar, such as countermeasures,
weapons sonar, hull arrays, surveillance arrays and mine-hunting arrays. As a result of
growth in these applications for our transducer products, MSI needs engineers and
technicians to design, develop and build acoustic transducers and arrays for advanced
sonar systems and transition these through prototyping into production for our systems OEM
customers.

technical leadership and mentoring to our transducer engineering group, managing
sophisticated transducer engineering programs, and opening up pioneering new applications
for our piezocomposite transducers. Your leadership experience will enable you to direct
the implementation of transducer designs and bring together MSIs acoustical,
materials, electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines to meet or exceed customer
expectations. You will manage prototype fabrication through our applications engineering
group and assist with the transition to manufacturing. You will have the responsibility
for interacting with customers and managing engineering programs to budget and schedule.
Your ability to work with others and lead in a team environment is presumed. Experience
with earned value program management is a plus.
US citizenship is required for this position. Minimum technical requirements are a BS
degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or Physics plus at
least 10 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree is preferred.
Senior Acoustics Engineer
You will be able to translate our sonar systems customers sonar and ultrasound
requirements into novel transducer designs that leverage MSIs unique piezocomposite
technology. Your leadership experience will enable you to oversee customer-funded programs
and direct the implementation of your designs through engineering and into production so
as to meet or exceed customer expectations. A BS degree in Electrical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or Physics is required with 5-10 years experience
in acoustic systems or transducer development. An advanced degree is preferred.
Electrical Engineer
You will be responsible for the design, fabrication, testing and evaluation of
electro-acoustic transducers. You must be familiar with computer programming (Labview
preferred), analog/digital circuits, electrical test and measurement. Minimum BSEE with
1-3 years of experience. Knowledge of electro-acoustics and CAD/CAM preferred.
Electro-Mechanical Technician
A hands-on electro-mechanical technician is needed to work under the supervision of our
engineering staff. The ideal candidate will have solid experience with mechanical
assembly, machining, electrical test, wiring and soldering. Knowledge of materials and/or
electrical test & measurement are a plus. Candidate must have an AS degree or
